About the event

Join us Saturday morning, June 29th from 10am - 11am, on the farm for an Introduction to Soil Blocking - the perfect way to start seeds in the smallest and most efficient space! This is also our second Sunflower Saturday as well, so you are welcome to purchase a bouquet and take home a free stem for your little one!

In this information packed session, you will learn about the benefits of soil blocking, how to properly use the equipment, and will get to take home the all the tools needs to set you up for a beautiful journey of starting your own seeds with confidence (growing them anywhere inside or outside of your home).

Soil blocking is a simple and easy way to start seeds in any setting.  It is an efficient way to save space, maximize your efficiency, and quite frankly the most addicting way to grown anything in your garden!

For example, in the area of a simple 9" x 11" reusable, foam tray you can start and support up to 120 soil blocked plants until they go to the garden. Yes, 120!! There are no pots or trays to store or purchase each year. You can reuse trays with no drainage holes with each new set of seedlings that head out, so it is also a very eco-friendly option as well.

We have found that seedlings that are started in soil blocks are generally healthier, grow quicker, are not root-bound, and hit the ground running when they get transplanted (with no transplant shock either).

Included in your registration:

  • Hands-on learning and instruction from 7:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Soil Blocking Supplies, including: 20-cell Soil Blocker, 1 Block of Organic Coco Coir medium, Sifted Compost, 3 Reusable Foam Trays (9"x11"), 1 Mixing Tray, Printed Instruction Card (to take home) & Nitrile Coated Garden Gloves
  • Complimentary Seeds to Use in Workshop
  • Light refreshments (please let us know if you have any allergies)

We do have the option to Audit this workshop as well, but this does not include any of the supplies, mentioned above.

You will leave feeling excited and confident in your newfound seed starting abilities, and will get a head start by taking home your newly started seeds and all the tools you need to get growing!
