Whiting True Greens - 2025 Spring Chicks

Our 2025 Spring Chicks are available for pickup at 1-week old or 6-weeks old, your choice.
1-Week Old Chicks:
Now that that delicate window of time has passed (typically days 1-4 post-hatch), your little babies will be ready to come home with you at 1-week old. While they are still fragile and will need supplemental heat until they're feathered out and ready to transition outdoors, we have successfully ensured your new chicks get the best headstart to living a long, healthy life when you pick them up and bring them home!
6-Week Old Chicks:
By taking the next step and investing in our Chick Grow Out program, we will raise your chicks from hatch through 6 weeks old (which is about the time they are 90% fully feathered) and ready to transition outdoors - weather permitting. Depending on the time of year, you may still need to keep them on supplemental heat, before transitioning outdoors, but at this age they are completely comfortable in 70 degree temps, so it won't be very long with our Spring chicks that you'll need to keep them on heat.
We have found that raising chicks through this age gets them ready to make an easy transition from the brooder to your outside coop with no added heat necessary and the Spring temps being just right.
This year, we have selected breeds of chickens that have vigor, are cold tolerant, have smaller combs and traits to help them be better equipped for the cold, and those that are generally great family pets, without sacrificing production. All breeds listed (with the exception of maybe the decorative Mottled Houdans) are excellent laying breeds.

Pricing varies depending on the breed and age upon pickup, starting at just $15 per chick, with no minimum requirement on the number of chicks.
For our 1-week old chicks, we have accounted for all of your chicks essentials in their first week of their lives, such as vitamins and electrolytes, probiotics, feed, bedding, and electric.
For 6-week old chicks, we have alotted $2/per week per chick for 5 weeks, to cover our expenses such as feed, electricity, bedding, etc.
Please add/indicate the number of chicks you would like to purchase and confirm the breed as well as ages you would like them to be upon pickup.
All are 90% guaranteed pullets (young females) and vaccinated for both Coccidiosis and Marek's disease.
We trust in the experts and believe in sourcing quality birds for our flock and yours, and are happy to offer them to our local South Jersey community with no order minimums or the hassle of chick brooding.
Due to the time involved in the grow out period (from hatch to laying age of approx. 6-7 months), quantities are extremely limited and once we are sold out, we will likely not have available chicks available during the remainder of 2025.

Changes to Your Order
After your purchase, you will receive an order confirmation. Please let us know if there are any corrections or changes to be made as soon as possible.
Age Upon Pickup
Please be sure to select the appropriate age you would like to receive your chicks upon pickup.
We can send you home with 1-week old chicks or 6-week old chicks. Both will need supplemental heat, but the older chicks will need less temps and should be able to transition outdoors relatively quickly in the Spring - weather permitting.
The key to transitioning your chicks outside, and the best way to tell, is they are are fully feathered and when the temps outside match the brooder temps inside. At 6 weeks old, they are typically used to 70 degrees, which outdoors in NJ occurs around mid-April/early May at the latest.
Vaccinations
All chicks will be vaccinated for Marek's disease (a highly transmittable, deadly disease) and Coccidiosis. This cost is factored in already to your grow out purchase.
Pick Up & Delivery
You can pick up your chicks from our farm, once a pickup email has been sent to the email address we have on file for you. Once you receive a pickup-ready email, please bring an appropriate create/box for transporting baby chicks. A dog/cat crate is sufficient, or a mid-sized cardboard box with shavings in it. A bag or something without a lid is not appropriate for transporting live animals in (especially flight animals).
We can provide a box for you to take home your chicks, for an additional fee of $5 each. Each small box will hold up to 4, 1-week old chicks and each medium box will hold up to 6, 6-week old chicks.
Because the farm is also our home, please make not of our operating hours and do not come to the farm unannounced.
We can also deliver to your designated address on file, unless otherwise specified, for an additional $10 per order (within a 15-mile radius).Substitutions & Refunds
Since chickens are living animals, things can happen. We will do our best to fulfill your order exactly as requested.
If any of your chicks are not available at the time of pickup, for whatever reason, you can choose a substitute (if available) for the unavailable chick.
Once your pre-order is placed, full payment is required. If anything changes before your chicks arrive, please let us know at least 30 days in advance! We reserve the right to refund or not, as once our chicks have hatched they are spoken for and expected to go home with you. We understand your mind may change ten times before then (and you may even want to add on to your original order), and will do our best to substitute or save your pre-paid funds as a credit for our next hatch.
